To celebrate Halloween we’ve created this ghoulish-ly good Spooky Gingerbread Skeletons recipe. They’re devilishly delicious and fun for the whole family, especially your little horrors! Alternatively, they make the perfect snack to share with visiting friends or family if you want to be the ghostess with the mostest…
Makes about 24 skeletons
Ingredients:
- 200g sugar
- 200g vegan butter
- 160g golden syrup
- 60 ml soya milk
- 4 tsp ginger
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 500g plain flour
- 1 tsp salt
Method:
- In a large pan melt together the sugar, butter, golden syrup, soya milk and spices.
- Bring to the boil and stir in the bicarbonate of soda.
- Remove from the heat and mix well. The mixture will bubble up as it reacts with the bicarbonate of
soda. - Leave to cool in the pan.
- Once cool stir in the flour and salt and mix until it forms a smooth dough.
- Wrap in cling film and put in the fridge for an hour.
- Roll out to about 5mm thick and cut out into gingerbread men shapes.
- Bake at 160C for about 12 minutes or until the edges are just beginning to brown.
- Cool on a wire rack.
- Decorate with piping icing to make the skeletons.
These are delicious with a glass of Ginger Kombucha!
