For many of us, months of lockdown and Christmas indulgence have taken their toll on our waistlines. The beginning of the year is a popular time to banish the booze, start a new exercise routine and adopt a new diet for weight loss. So, what’s this got to do with kombucha? While drinking kombucha alone will not help you lose weight, there are a number of ways you can drink kombucha to support your mission. Let’s explore…

  1. Swap the booze for booch
  2. Get a sweet hit, without the excessive sugar
  3. Stop the snacks!
  4. Stick to your exercise routine
  5. Be kind to your body and mind

How to drink kombucha to support weight loss

1. Swap the booze for booch

While most of us enjoy a tipple from time to time, drinking alcohol regularly can tip you over your recommended daily calorie intake due to its sugar content. Cocktails, wine, beer and cider are generally the worst offenders with the highest calorie content.

According to Drink Aware, a small glass of wine contains around 114 calories and a pint of cider can contain up to 240 calories! Our Original Kombucha on the other hand, is just 41 calories per bottle, so swapping alcohol for a kombucha is a sure fire way to reduce your calorie intake.

2. Get a sweet hit, without the excessive sugar

If you’re a lover of fruit juices or fizzy drinks, it can be challenging to find a low-sugar alternative. Our kombucha comes in a range of exciting flavours that are sure to tantalise your taste buds, with half the sugar of some of the UK’s favourite drinks. All the fizz, without the sugar!

San Pellegrino Lemon – 8.9g per 100ml

Coca Cola – 10.6g per 100ml

7 Up – 11g per 100ml

Red Bull – 11g per 100ml

Compared to:

Equinox Kombucha Raspberry & Elderflower – 3.4g per 100ml

Equinox Kombucha Peach & Turmeric – 2.6g per 100ml

Equinox Kombucha Wild Berry – 3.2g per 100ml

Equinox Kombucha Pink Grapefruit & Guava – 2.8g per 100ml

3. Stop the snacks!

Instead of reaching for some salty snacks or raiding the biscuit tin, why not try a kombucha? Kombucha gives you a natural lift throughout the day to help you beat the afternoon slump, stay motivated and stop unnecessary snacking. We like to enjoy a kombucha as a mid morning treat or as an after work to unwind after a busy day.

4. Stick to your exercise routine

If you’re serious about weight loss, exercise should form a key part of your regime. Whether you’re enjoying a new yoga flow, lifting weights or pounding the pavements, kombucha makes a great post-workout drink. Kombucha is a great choice for rehydrating and recharging your body after exercise. Some studies have suggested that green tea, a key ingredient of kombucha, can also help to boost your metabolism and aid fat burning, which makes kombucha a great workout partner.

5. Be kind to your body and mind

The most important thing when it comes to overhauling your diet and lifestyle is to adopt sustainable, healthy habits physically, mentally and emotionally. Don’t set yourself unrealistic goals that you can’t keep or ban your favourite foods – it’ll make you miserable and be impossible to maintain. Instead, focus on simple food swaps, enjoy everything in moderation and listen to your body. And remember, a healthy diet doesn’t have to mean bland or uninspiring food and drink. Equinox Kombucha is very much on the menu!
